When the weather isn’t ideal, it’s time to find a fun indoor play area so the kids can still get some energy out. I figured I’d use it as an excuse to try out one of Boise’s best indoor spots for kids – Planet Kid – located in the Wings Center. Have you been? I feel like I was one of the last moms in the Treasure Valley to finally check it out but better late than never, right?
About Planet Kid Indoor Playground
According to their website, Planet Kid Indoor Playground is “Idaho’s largest indoor playground!” The floor to ceiling soft play equipment, tunnels, slides, climbing nets, ball pits and more are a kid’s dream place to play. Kids ages 12 and under have the best time exploring all that there is to do with big old smiles on their faces. Promise!
I took my two littles (ages 4.5 and 1.5 at the time) and met Lenka (@boisebusykids) and her then 15 month old daughter right when it opened up at 9:00am. To be quite honest I don’t usually go anywhere that early unless it involves coffee… (See this post about my *good* coffee obsession if you think I’m being dramatic.) Lucky for us, Planet Kid ain’t messin around and they have a sweet Cafe with a pretty full COFFEE BAR.
We were having one of those mornings where everyone seemed to have woken up on the wrong side of the bed. Everything was going wrong. But, Planet Kid to the rescue! The second I had a Planet Kid coffee in my hand and the boys stepped foot on the playground, all of the morning crabbiness melted away.
If you haven’t been in a while, Planet Kid has been working really hard to make the place even better. They’ve added a ton of kid’s favorites to the “Nosh” menu. They also added the coffee bar with lots of drink options. They’ve worked intentionally to create a really awesome experience for families.
Not Just For the Kids
We all know that the kids will have a great time in the play area. But these kinds of places can be so boring for parents. Knowing this, they’ve tried to design a space where parents can feel confident that their kids are having fun in a safe place while they take the opportunity to relax, catch up with friends, or even use the many tables and benches to get some work done on their computers or phones. I mean… whaaaaaat?! Could this be a more magical place? An intentional space for parents, by parents who totally “get it”?! We’re so lucky to have this option in Boise!
