Spring Soccer Options for Your Kids

There are some great options for kids soccer around the Treasure Valley. Depending on your schedule and location I’m willing to bet you can find a perfect fit with just a little bit of research (or by reading this post).

Here’s a little Spring Soccer Roundup:

1. School of Soccer

One of my son’s played in the School of Soccer and we have NOTHING but great things to say about our experience and even signed him up again. School of Soccer is very much skills based and it was easy to see that the players were having TONS of fun while learning great techniques during practices and games. They have lots of sessions, locations, and times of year to pick from. They have soccer year round and teach ages 2-15. Every game day during the season Camel’s Back Park turns into a sea of adorable little kids in bright orange uniforms. See below for more details and register here.

2. i9 Sports

i9 sports offers a few different sports league options for kids, but for soccer they have options at Amity Elementary, Trailwind Elementary, Boise Valley Adventist School, and Tully Park in Meridian. They teach ages 3-12 and typically play on Saturday or Sunday.

Check out more specific details and register on their website, www.i9sports.com.

3. Meridian PAL (Police Activities League) Soccer

Although I don’t have any personal experience with this program I have a lot of friends that do it every year and love it.

Meridian PAL Soccer welcomes all ranges of player experience to the beautiful soccer complex at Heroes Park (Meridian, ID near Ten Mile and Chinden), the exclusive home to Meridian PAL Soccer. Meridian PAL Soccer is open to youth athletes of all ages from tots (ages 3-4) through high school (U15-U18 co-ed) and focuses cultivation of the invaluable experiences of leadership, sportsmanship, and teamwork.

Age Groups

– U4 & U5 Coed Divisions
– U6, U7, U8, U9, U10, U12 and U14 – Boys and Girls Divisions
– High School Coed Division

Volunteers
All teams are coached by volunteers and all coaches are volunteers. Please consider volunteering to coach your child’s team. Volunteers are needed for all team head coaches, assistant coaches, team managers, and assistant referees for U7-U10.

4. Idaho Rush

Idaho Rush’s Recreation program offers soccer for kids ages 3-18. Coaches and referees are volunteers (training is provided!). Teams (formed by age, gender and geographic area) play 6 games over the course of 7-8 weeks with weekly practices. Many games are played at Simplot Sports Complex.

Mighty Mites – Ages 3-5
This program “bridges the gap between wanting to play but being too young to play on a team.” There are no practices, scheduled games or leagues in Mighty Mites. It is 6 weeks long and they play on Saturdays – the same as the older kids – at Lewis & Clark Middle School or Simplot Sports Complex.

They also have recreational and developmental leagues for older kids.

5. Soccer Shots

Soccer Shots offers three core programs to meet the developmental needs of children ages 2 to 8. It’s way more than just learning the game of soccer. They aim to build character, skills and confidence while also having a whole lot of FUN.

There are a lot of programs at daycares and preschools where your child would need to be enrolled there to participate, but also many public programs at nearby parks like Bear Creek Park in Meridian, and Ann Morrison Park in Boise. Learn more about it here.
