Idaho AEYC READY! For Kindergarten Program

A couple of weekends ago my family braved the cold, rainy Spring weather and attended the Idaho Association for the Education of Young Children's community event called "Celebration of the Young Child" held at Julia Davis Park on Saturday, April 16th. I was blown away by the local organizations that were present to support young kids and their families. Some of our favorite local organizations were there including The Children's Museum of Idaho, Idaho State Museum, GoGo Squeez and the library to name just a few. It's an event my family will plan to attend each year and I'll be sure to promote it as soon as the date for next year comes out so that you can mark your calendars. It's absolutely worth it to go - rain or shine!

I want to tell you all about a really amazing AEYC program that I learned about at this event. It's called READY! For Kindergarten and is for families and caregivers of children ages 0-5. This learning program offers workshops that encourage parents, children's "first and most influential teachers," to get involved in their child's learning through reading, singing, playing and more. Parents attend three workshops each year, and learn fun and exciting ways to support their child while playing together. There are both in-person and virtual workshops (offered in both English and Spanish) happening across the state throughout the year and parents leave each of them with a wealth of knowledge and hands-on tools for engaging their children in pre-literacy, pre-math and social emotional skills to best prepare them for entering Kindergarten.

If you're a parent or caregiver interested in learning more about this incredible, FREE program - head to the website to read more and search for a workshop near you.

Thank you AEYC for helping our local families nurture and engage the young minds of the future!
