Monday, April 29 marks the start of Idaho's largest online fundraising event, Idaho Gives. It's a special and important time where our community can show their support of the many nonprofits working tirelessly to strengthen our community. Now in its twelfth year, Idaho Gives has raised almost $24 million, $3.83 million of which was donated last year in 2023. The online giving period takes place this year from Monday, April 29th through Thursday, May 2nd, 2024 but you don't need to wait until then to learn more and prepare.Â
Make time to hop online to the Idaho Gives 2024 website idahogives.org where you can easily search for organizations and causes that are important to your family. There are over 600 Idaho nonprofits participating in Idaho Gives this year. The focus of these nonprofits range from mental health to housing, education to outdoor conservation and so much more. Involve your kids! Idaho Gives is a great opportunity to involve them in the giving process and teach them about the impact that local nonprofits have on Idaho and our local families.Â
The statewide collaboration is a program of the Idaho Nonprofit Center, a statewide nonprofit that exists with the mission to help Idaho’s nonprofits be the strongest they can be. The Idaho Nonprofit Center is a 501(c)(3) charitable nonprofit representing the interests of Idaho’s 9,000+ registered nonprofit organizations. Their mission is to educate, advocate, and collaborate in support of stronger nonprofits. Idaho Gives is designed to bring the state together, raising money and awareness for Idaho nonprofits. IdahoGives.org provides an easy-to-use platform for donors to search, support and donate to Idaho nonprofits.
Kevin Bailey, CEO of the Idaho Nonprofit Center shared that, "Individual giving accounts for more than two-thirds of all charitable giving, according to Giving USA’s Annual Report on Philanthropy, completely dwarfing donations from foundations (19% of all giving), giving by bequest (9%), and giving by corporations (4%).  The importance that individual donors will play during Idaho Gives 2024 and in shaping the outcomes for local nonprofits cannot be overstated. Idaho truly runs on nonprofits."
