Art Events in the Treasure Valley This Weekend

There are a couple of awesome annual art events happening across the Treasure Valley this weekend that we wanted to highlight for you! Will your family be attending any of them? See below for all the details! Most of them are free and family-friendly (the best combo, right?)!

Meridian Art Week 2022 Info:

Make and Take Ornament As You Wish Clothiers, 124 E Idaho Ave. 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM Free Drop-In Activity As You Wish Clothiers invites anyone interested to stop in to create an angel ornament using scraps of their unique fabrics. The ornament you make is yours to keep and take home.

Initial Point Gallery Opening Reception Meridian City Hall, 3rd Floor 4:30 PM – 7:00 PM Drop by the Initial Point Gallery to view the new art exhibit by the College of Western Idaho Faculty and to meet several of the artists. Admission is free; All welcome.

Chalk Art Competition and Festivities Generations Plaza (at Main & Idaho in Downtown Meridian) Theme: The Colors of Idaho Competition Categories: Adult Artist / Youth Artist (Under 18) / Team-Family Free to participate; Chalk will be provided or you may bring your own ***Please pre-register at: 5:00 PM – 5:30 PM: Check in and Registration for Chalk Art competitors 5:30 PM – 8:00 PM: Chalk Art Competition 6:00 PM: Live Music by Sam Henry Band 7:45 PM – 8:00 PM: Huckleberry Star Theater Performance 8:00 PM: Awards announced for the Chalk Art Competition.


Community Art Party Generation’s Plaza (at Main & Idaho in Downtown Meridian) 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM Come enjoy live music, create at the craft tables, play a beat at the instrument petting zoo and engage with local artists.


Meridian Main Street Market Meridian City Hall Plaza, 33 E. Broadway Avenue 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM The Meridian Main Street Market is a traditional farmer’s market, but it is unique in that it provides opportunities for youth vendors, as well. It also gives the public the chance to support local small businesses, farms and entrepreneurs. Food Photography Masterclass unBound Tech Library, 722 E. 2nd St. 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM This free food photography masterclass is taught by local professional food photographer, Leslie Rodriguez. Attendees will get hands-on training and tips for taking great pictures of their food products. Seats limited / Register at

Treasure Valley Children’s Theater Fall Production The Village at Meridian, 3597 E. Monarch Sky Lane 2:00 PM - FREE! The Treasure Valley Children’s Theater will perform its family-friendly fall production at the Village at Meridian. You won’t want to miss out on this free performance!

Tammy de Weerd’s Awards in the Arts and Concert on Broadway – High Street Party Band Meridian City Hall Plaza, 33 E. Broadway Avenue 6:30PM Arts Awards / 7:00 PM Concert - Free! Recipients of the 2022 Tammy de Weerd’s Awards in the Arts will be honored at 6:30 pm; at 7:00 pm the High Street Party Band will perform popular hits from across the decades. There will be a dessert food cart, live music, and fun to be had by all. Please consider bringing folding chairs or a lawn blanket as amphitheater seating is limited. Free.

Art in the Park 2022 Info:

Dates: Friday, September 9th & Saturday, September 10th - 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.

Sunday, September 11th - 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Join the Boise Art Museum for their annual, premier cultural event, Art In the Park! Julia Davis Park will be packed over the three day event with 240 art and craft vendors, food trucks and pub garden, live music and fun hands-on activities for children (see below for details). Check their website for parking and shuttle details. No pets allowed.

Treat your child to an artistic, hands-on experience! Come paint and collage in the Children’s Art Tent, where young artists will be inspired by the artwork on display inside BAM. $2.00 per child.
