A Cozy Stay in Sun Valley

Sun Valley is pretty legendary. It's been a worldwide destination since 1936 when the first "destination ski resort" opened. With the area's natural beauty and endless opportunities for outdoor exploration, shopping, dining and other fun, it's no wonder it's so popular. And lucky for us here in the Treasure Valley it's only about a 2.5-3 hour drive away! Our family recently headed that way to kick off our kids' Spring Break and we had the best time. (Read this post for our top recommendations for things to do during the winter weather.) One of the highlights of this trip was a cozy stay at the Tamarack Lodge in the center of Ketchum. Let me tell you more about it...

Ketchum is such a cute city with an awesome main square area and Tamarack Lodge is right there beside it. It's been a piece of this charming area for years and was recently remodeled and refreshed. The updates enhanced the Lodge's classic architectural elements so it maintained it's classic Lodge feel while providing modern updates and improvements.

Since we had our family of five and our beloved grandma with us we reserved a King Suite (with our own fireplace!) that adjoined to a double queen room next door. It was so fun to spread out and feel like we had plenty of space for relaxing, playing, eating and sleeping! Besides the big comfy beds, each room had a table and chairs, a flat screen TV with alllll the channels, a microwave, a perfect mini fridge for our snacks and drinks (beer and wine for the adults and sippy cups for the kids), spots to keep all our outdoor gear (skis, boots, snow pants, etc.) and plenty of space to really spread out. The Lodge has a three stories with multiple room types so there's options for whatever size group you have.

The kids' favorite part was playing in the fun indoor "glamping kit" they offer. The cute little canvas teepee came with twinkle lights, a cozy little mattress, blanket and pillows, and even a few games! It was easy to move around and didn't take up the whole room while also providing plenty of space for my boys to snuggle up in it together.

The Lodge has some great amenities like a big indoor heated pool and outdoor hot tub. I could have stayed in the hot tub for hours and I had to drag the boys out of the pool! It was so fun to be able to enjoy both spots with giant snow piles just feet away!

The private courtyard has nice big wooden chairs throughout as well as a fire-pit and picnic tables (when the weather is nice and the area isn't covered in snow). I'm already dreaming of another trip where we can bask in the sun on a warm spring or summer day and end the night with s'mores!

Speaking of warmer weather, they have complimentary cruiser bikes you can borrow. They're perfect for bopping around town or cruising along one of our favorite spots, the Wood River Trail.

During the winter they offer complimentary snowshoes and sleds for your snowy adventures. We borrowed the sleds and it was so nice not to have to pack them from Boise!

While we didn't bring our pup on this trip, the Lodge is pet-friendly which I know is important to many dog owners and can be hard to find.

Check out their website to see the many specials they offer (like a Spring Savings and Residents Rate) and get your next Ketchum stay booked!
