Idaho Potato Drop
December 31, 20256:00 pm – January 1, 202612:00 am Idaho State Capitol, 700 W Jefferson St, Boise, ID 83702, USA
13th annualIDAHO® POTATO DROP — NEW YEAR’S EVE IN BOISE
Get ready for the 13th annual Idaho® Potato Drop , Idaho’s signature New Year’s Eve event that can only be truly experienced LIVE at the Idaho State Capitol!
Starting at 6:00 PM, the Main Stage comes to life as the world-famous #GlowTato ascends to its evening perch during the Idaho® Potato Rise. KTVB will be on hand, broadcasting live across NBC stations in Cecil D. Andrus Park, featuring food trucks, sporting events, eclectic vendors and of course, BIG Idaho® Potatoes!
Celebrate the start of 2026 with us at the Kuna New Year Gem Drop! Idaho has been nicknamed “the Gem State” since its territorial days so we saw it fitting to build a giant gem in its honor. This year we are taking the celebration to Bernie Fisher Park, so join us for an unforgettable evening as we drop a sparkling gem from a crane at midnight to welcome in the New Year.
There will be security and road closures to ensure the safety of the public.
Make sure you stop by the City of Kuna Tent for some fun New Year’s Eve noisemakers for the kids. (Available until supplies last).
When the countdown to the new year begins, Seid Crane will drop the Gem resulting in a pyrotechnic and firework display. Please stay behind the safety fence-barricade. If you have sensitive pets, please make sure to take precautions for them as well.
WARNING: STROBE LIGHTING AND OTHER INTENSE LIGHTING WILL BE USED DURING THE GEM DROP WHICH MAY BE DISRUPTIVE TO PEOPLE WHO ARE SENSITIVE TO LIGHT. THIS EVENT ALSO HAS FIREWORKS.

Every Saturday, the Art Room Coffee House serves more than just coffee.
We open the doors to our pottery studio and let anyone create for free! If you’ve always wanted to try pottery on a wheel, our lead instructor Mike will teach you everything you need to know. The Art Room provides the clay, glaze, firings, and instructions – you just need to show up. We have six wheels, and anyone is welcome to drop-in. If you’re interested in reserving a time, check out our weeknight classes (coming soon!).
If pottery isn’t your thing, no worries. We have a house full of art supplies that you can use to paint, draw, or color. Our hope is that you would come to the Art Room and create.
